   "Goodbye Cruel World" is routinely dismissed as the worst release from Elvis Costello, even by the artist himself. I'm not sure if I would rank it at the very bottom, but it definitely is weaker than most of his catalog, although I'd argue that even mediocre Costello is still pretty damned good.
